Em meio às perseguições
Da noite fria e sem luz,
Meus amigos do Evangelho,
Lembrai-vos do Réu da Cruz.

Sem que alguém lhe concedesse
O canto amigo de um lar,
Nasceu numa estrebaria
Por servir e por amar.

Desde a infância humilde e pobre
Na casa de Nazaré,
Trabalhava todo o dia
Entre os formões de José.

Ele, o Príncipe da Luz,
Caminho, Vida e Verdade,
Fez-se escravo pequenino
No serviço à humanidade.

Foi Messias generoso
Da bondade e do perdão,
Trazendo ao mundo oprimido
A grande renovação.

Serviu aos ricos e aos pobres,
Ao infeliz, ao sofredor,
Devotou-se a toda gente
Em sua missão de amor.

Revelou a paz do Reino
Da verdade e da Bonança,
Fez brilhar na Terra escura
Novo lume de esperança.

À cegueira dos caminhos
Trouxe a luz pura e imortal,
Pelo Evangelho da Vida
Curou a lepra do mal.

Expulsou a treva espessa,
Viveu a bondade imensa,
Trouxe a bênção da fé viva,
Trabalhou sem recompensa.

Mas, em troca dos tesouros
De sua abnegação,
Recebeu pedras e espinhos
De dor e incompreensão.

Foi traído e processado,
Encarcerado e ferido,
Ele, o Mestre da Verdade,
Foi o grande escarnecido.

Se também sois humilhados,
Lembrai-vos d’Aquele Réu,
Que foi à cruz pelo crime
De abrir a visão do Céu.

Amidst the persecutions
From the cold and lightless night,
My friends of the Gospel,
Remember the Defendant of the Cross.

Without someone granting you
The friendly song of a home,
Born in a stable
For serving and for loving.

From humble and poor childhood
In the house of Nazareth,
worked all day
Between Joseph’s chisels.

He, the Prince of Light,
Way, Life and Truth,
became a little slave
In service to humanity.

He was generous messiah
Of kindness and forgiveness,
Bringing to the oppressed world
The big renovation.

He served the rich and the poor,
To the unhappy, to the suffering,
He devoted himself to everyone
On your mission of love.

He revealed the peace of the Kingdom
Of truth and bonanza,
He made the dark earth shine
New light of hope.

In the blindness of the ways
Brought pure and immortal light,
For the Gospel of Life
Cured the evil leprosy.

He drove out the thick darkness,
He experienced immense kindness,
Brought the blessing of living faith,
He worked without reward.

But in exchange for the treasures
Of your selflessness,
He was given stones and thorns
Of pain and misunderstanding.

He was betrayed and prosecuted,
Imprisoned and wounded,
He, the Master of Truth,
He was the great mocked one.

If you too are humiliated,
Remember that Defendant,
Who went to the cross for the crime
To open the vision of Heaven.
