O aprendiz, observando que o instrutor se ocupava em colaborar no preparo de ligeira refeição para os vários companheiros da comunidade em que, juntos, empregavam o tempo no estudo das verdades fundamentais da vida, aproxima-se e indaga surpreso:
—Mas, o senhor … descascando batatas?! …
O mentor sorri compreensivo e contrapergunta:
—Filho, se nos falta a paciência e a humildade necessárias para nos entregarmos às tarefas ditas menores, como nos habituaremos às responsabilidades de ordem superior nas quais Deus espera pelo nosso esforço e boa vontade na construção do mundo melhor?

—But, sir… peeling potatoes?! …
The mentor smiles understandingly and counter-questions:
—Son, if we lack the necessary patience and humility to give ourselves to the so-called minor tasks, how will we get used to the higher order responsibilities in which God expects our effort and goodwill in building a better world?
