Comparecem, às centenas, aqui e ali…
Jazem famintos e não comentam a carência de pão.
Amargam dolorosa nudez e não reclamam contra o frio.
Experimentam agoniadas depressões morais, sem pedirem qualquer reconforto à ideia religiosa.
Sofrem prolongados suplícios orgânicos, incapazes de recorrer voluntariamente ao amparo da Medicina.
Pensa neles e, de coração enternecido, quanto puderes, oferece-lhes algo de teu amor, através da peça de roupa ou da xícara de leite, da poção medicamentosa ou do minuto de atenção e carinho, porque esses companheiros mudos e expectantes que nos rodeiam são as criancinhas necessitadas e padecentes que não podem falar.

Undoubtedly, the verb is the light of life, which Jesus himself used to bequeath to us the Renewal Gospel.
However, in this simple note, we come to beg you for support and consolation for those companions whom our skill cannot serve in a direct sense.
They come, by the hundreds, here and there…
They lie hungry and do not comment on the lack of bread.
They embitter painful nakedness and do not complain against the cold.
They experience agonizing moral depressions, without asking any comfort from the religious idea.
They suffer prolonged organic tortures, unable to voluntarily resort to the support of Medicine.
Think of them and, with a tender heart, as much as you can, offer them something of your love, through the article of clothing or the cup of milk, the medicated potion or the minute of attention and affection, because these silent and expectant companions who surround us they are the needy and suffering little children who cannot speak.
